It will hit Steam Early Access soon this year
Baldur’s Gate 3 will be available on Steam Early Access sometime in 2020. Hasbro, in it’s Toy Fair presentation, announced 7 D&D-like games, which will be released every year up till 2025. Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dark Alliance are also included in those games and will launch this year.
There will also be a gameplay footage reveal of Baldur’s Gate 3 on 27th Feb 2020 at PAX East, as reported by Dark Side of Gaming.
Larian Studios, famous for Divinity: Original Sin series, are incharge of the development of the new game. Larian are familiar with the Early Access release thingamajig as Divinity: Original Sin 2 also came out in Early Access before its main release. Therefore, for them, making this new game Early Access won’t be a big deal. The game is being developed for PC and Google Stadia, the cloud gaming platform.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the sequel to Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. That game came out 20 years ago and now after that long period of time comes the third part. That long a wait has only been experienced by fans of the Mount & Blade series, with Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord coming this year after almost a decade.
Larian studios have delayed the development of Divinity: Fallen Heroes, which was due last year, as they work on the new Baldur’s Gate.
The game was meant to be a “launch window” title for Google Stadia, as was listed by Google. However, the game is arriving pretty soon in Early Access and will be available through Stadia soon enough.
