Blizzcon

BlizzCon 2019’s opening event took place in California yesterday. We’ll tell you the juicy details about the event here, including details about Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, as well as the expansion of World of Warcraft and a new mode coming to Hearthstone.

Diablo 4

The main dish of the event was the announcement of Diablo 4. This top-down RPG will be a delightfor the old players of Diablo 2, as it adapts its styles and modes. Going back to the roots, it’ll feature a very grimdark solo and cooperative campaign. Diablo 4 will also include PvP combat zones, and will make for a gorier experience similar to Diablo 2. The gameplay trailer for the game showed off the mage, druid and barbarian classes, as well as mounts for your warriors!

Although a very exciting news, there was no release date nor a release window given.

Overwatch 2

Yes you heard it right, Overwatch 2. The game will finally have a highly desired story mode. On top of that 32 heroes will be available on launch of the game, where 31 existing heroes will get a new look. One new addition, which the Overwatch lore fans will know as Captain Sojourn, is a hero named Sojourn.

Ofcourse the announcement went off with the cinematic, Zero Hour, which you can watch above. Stuff happens and boom you have a good story to start Overwatch 2 with.

Gameplay changes are ofcourse also present, including new hero abilities and synergies. Player vs environment content will also be there, so prepare to fight everything. Something of interest for the Overwatch players will be the fact that all cosmetic unlocks from Overwatch will carry over to Overwatch 2.

Recently, Fortnite has also come up with a whole new “Chapter 2” for its game. Perhaps this is a new way of introducing major contents in online games which start losing audience?

There is no release date nor release platform told by Blizzard regarding Overwatch 2.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Expansion

This game will still be active even when I’m dead i can guarantee that. The next major World of Warcraft expansion, Shadowlands, was announced by Blizzard for release in 2020.

Blizzard should really make animated movies now, just look at the amazing cinematics they make for everything. The trailer shows Sylvanas Windrunner taking the Helm of Domination from Bolvar Fordragon, and then destroying it, opening up a veil between the world of Azeroth and hell, well Azeroth’s version of hell.

The expansion includes new factions known as covenants, plus high-level raids and an all-new character class. Shadowlands is available for pre-order online.

Hearthstone: Descent of Dragons expansion

Heartstone’s previous expansions, Rise of Shadows and Saviors of Uldum, began a story which will reach conclusion by the next Hearthstone expansion; Descent of Dragons. The expansion will take place in in Dragonblight, a place familiar to WoW players. The bad guy: Galakrond, the Nightmare.

The bigger news, yes you heard it right bigger than an expansion, is the announcement of a new gameplay mode called Battlegrounds. This gamemode is inspired by popular games such as Dota Auto Chess, Underlorlds, and League of Legends’ Teamfight Tactics, but ofcourse it comes with its own twist; Matching three units of the same type will upgrade them, and you’ll get additional bonuses for fielding multiple units of the same class.

The new Battlegrounds mode is playable for the next two days at BlizzCon. While the people who pre-order the new expansion get access to the gamemode on Nov 5.
