Super Nintendo (SNES) games can now be played on Nintendo Switch

Another big addition to the Nintendo Switch

 

Nintendo launched it’s Switch Online service about an year ago, which competed with the likes of Xbox live and PSN. The service provided NES games for Nintendo Switch, and now it’s evolving. The company announced SNES games to be available in the Switch Online service. Nintendo sure does love to surprise its community with surprise releases. The SNES games are downloadable from the Switch online shop.

The Nintendo Switch game library keeps on expanding more and more with some brilliant games adding up overtime. Two classic Star Wars games are also making their way to the Switch.

SNES games available right now:

  • Super Mario Kart
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
  • F-Zero
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Mario World
  • Star Fox
  • Stunt Race FX
  • Super Metroid
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  • Pilotwings
  • Super Soccer
  • Super Tennis
  • Brawl Brothers
  • Demon’s Crest
  • Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
  • Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force
  • Super Puyo Puyo 2
  • Breath of Fire
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts

This isn’t all though, as more games will be added overtime as promised by Nintendo, and they make sure to keep their promises.

These games will be playable with your friends, some of them being playable with others for the first time ever. They’ll just need to be members of the Switch Online service, just like you’d be. You can share the screen or pass controllers to play together and have some good nostalgia inducing time.

SNES controller

Similar to how Nintendo released an NES controller for the NES games on Switch. The custom SNES controller is also being launched for the Switch. It will be used to play the SNES games in the best way possible. The controller will be available for Switch Online members for $29.99 in the near future, official date is currently unknown.
